JORHAT: All Assam TET aspirants submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister regarding conducting TET examination for new and old B.Ed pass out candidates in order to give them an opportunity to take part in the process of building human resource. On December 15, the All Assam TET candidates met with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Jorhat and handed over a memorandum containing numerous demands on the problems of the TET deprived candidates who have been denied to sit in the TET examination many times.

The Education Department is going to publish an advertisement for the recruitment of Graduate and Post Graduate Teachers in High and Higher Secondary Schools by December 30. A considerable number of candidates have already completed their Bachelor and Master degree as well as B. Ed degree and are eagerly waiting for the government to conduct new Secondary (GT & PGT) TET examination.

The Education Department has not conducted the Higher Secondary TET examination in last two years. Therefore, the memorandum demands that the TET examination for Secondary TET (GT & PGT) level be conducted in 2023 and these TET candidates be brought under the advertisement to be published on or before December 30.

The High School TET examination was held in 2020 and Higher Secondary in 2021 respectively. However, these TET candidates did not get the chance to sit for the High and Higher Secondary TET examinations due to non-completion of B.Ed course. But now they have all the criteria for appearing in TET examination, so they are demanding for conducting TET examination and also demanding an opportunity to take part in the teacher recruitment process which will start through the recruitment advertisement to be published on or before December 30.

The candidates strongly demanded to conduct TET examination in 2023 and the candidates should be recruited under the advertisement to be published by the Education Department on or before December 30. Therefore, they urged the government to conduct a new TET examination at the high and higher secondary levels in 2023 to include the TET candidates along with the old TET pass candidates. As mentioned, TET is a teacher eligibility test similar to NET or SLET. Therefore, if the TET examinations at various levels are conducted every year, new talents will surely have the opportunity to get involved in the teaching profession.
