Memorial lecture delivered by Sootea branch of CPI (M)

A memorial lecture was held at the auditorium of Sootea HSS on February 21 by the Sootea branch of CPI (M) in association with Biswanath and Sonitpur district committee of CPI (M) in memory of Hem Barua, a prominent left wing leader, retired teacher, humanitarian who died on December 22 last year.

JAMUGURIHAT: A memorial lecture was held at the auditorium of Sootea HSS on February 21 by the Sootea branch of CPI (M) in association with Biswanath and Sonitpur district committee of CPI (M) in memory of Hem Barua, a prominent left wing leader, retired teacher, humanitarian who died on December 22 last year.

Mrinal Goswami forwarded a welcome address while Dhaneswar Bora, a retired professor of Biswanath College was in the chair. Rabin Tamuli, the State executive member of the party highlighted the life and ideology of the departed leader. Ananda Handie, headmaster of Uttar Sootea HS fondly recalled the contributions of the peasants' leader who wholeheartedly worked for the wellbeing of the farmers, rendered selfless social services and played a pivotal role in establishment of various educational and social organizations of greater Sootea. Deepa Bora, member of All India Democratic Women Wing recalled the contributions of comrade Hem Barua towards organizational enhancement of the party. Utpal Badal Barua and Minakhi Barua forwarded lectures on behalf of the family. In between the lecture series Ikramul Hussain, Tulika Nayak, Atul Das, Mrinal Barua, Jeeban Bora and senior reporter Ratul Bhuyan read out poems. The meeting was also addressed by Dharani Dhar Das, Gajen Bora, Pratap Bora, Durgeswar Saikia, among others.
