NAMRUP: The Assam Petro-Chemicals Ltd. (APL), a State Government undertaking located at Namrup, is a premier petrochemical industry of the entire north-eastern region and the first of its kind in India to use natural gas as feed stock for producing methanol.
With its ongoing 500 TPD Methanol Project at Namrup and 200 TPD Formalin Project at Boitamari , the erection of Italy-imported Methanol Reactor, one of the core component of the 500 TPD Methanol Plant, was successfully completed on Monday in the presence of Bikul Ch. Deka, chairman, and Atul Chandra Barman, managing director of APL, and other top officials.
Bikul Ch. Deka stated that if everything went well, the ongoing 500 TPD plant would be commissioned in December this year. He hoped that after commissioning, the new plant would bring enormous opportunities for the unemployed youths in the near future.
