Millet products launched under brand name ‘Uttarporia Millets’ in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: An event was organized at No. 2 Raganjan village of Lakhimpur district on Monday to mark the launch of packaged millet products by the beneficiaries of Model Millet Project, Lakhimpur. The products are launched under the brand name ‘Uttarporia Millets’.

The Model Millet Project is a visionary scheme under Farm Sector Promotion Fund of NABARD which aims to promote and empower sustainable agriculture and income through Millet farming and is implemented by the non-governmental organization APRINS. Several dignitaries including Amlan Ranjan Tamuly, District Development Manager, NABARD Lakhimpur, TE. Russel, Project Manager, APRINS, Dr. Yater Das, Junior Scientist, ZRS Lakhimpur, Madhab Saikia, Lead District Manager, Lakhimpur along with representative from Department of Agriculture, Narayanpur attended the event.

The dignitaries expressed their utmost appreciation to the farmers for their hardwork and shared their thoughts in scaling up production as well as marketing of millet products. The event also marked the grand opening of the Office of Uttarporia Millet Farmer Producer Company Ltd., an FPC formed under NABARD in Naraynpur block for the holistic growth of millet cultivation among farmers and promote sustainable agriculture in the region as whole.
