TINSUKIA: To resolve Assam-Arunachal border dispute, Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, MLA of Naharkatia Taranga Gogoi along with district officials of Tinsukia and Dibrugarh visited Namdang Tea Estate under Naharkatia Revenue Circle on Saturday and addressed a huge gathering at Namsang TE Model School.
A DIPR Dibrugarh press release stated that the disputed Namdang TE covering an area of 1109 bigha-2 katha-12 lecha is ceiling land. Addressing the gathering, MLA Gogoi claimed that Namdang is an old tea estate existing since the British era and is an integral part of Assam and steps will be initiated for development of Namdang TE. He further informed that schemes will be launched to improve infrastructural development with special emphasis on roads including establishment of schools, colleges in Namdang adding that the people of the locality had been enjoying the benefits of Assam Government. In his address Minister Atul Bora said that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is making untiring efforts to resolve age-old border conflict and he hoped that it would be solved through mutual understanding. The representatives from the public also expressed their views and opined in clear terms that they will stay with Assam and they are Assamese. Among those accompanying the team were Dibrugarh DC Biswajit Pegu, Guardian Secretary Ananta Lal Gyani, ADC Tinsukia Monjit Borkakoty, CO (A) Naharkatia Sarat Gogoi besides others.
