KOKRAJHAR: State WPT and BC Minister Chandan Brahma on Wednesday evening held a review meeting with the district administration and heads of departments on prevailing flood situation, protective arrangements and relief operations in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office. Deputy Commissioner Karmadev Brahma briefed him about the present flood situation, relief operations along with measures so far undertaken by the district administration.

Initiating the discussion, the minister asked the Circle Officers and other district officials to carry out a comprehensive survey of the affected areas for taking immediate measures against the problems faced by the people as well as for compensating them adequately. He ordered the PWD Executive Engineer and DRDA Project Director to assess the damages of roads, bridges and building and to take appropriate measures, District Agriculture Officer to assess the damage to standing crops and agricultural lands in affected areas, Executive Engineer of Public Health Engineering to ensure cleanliness and drinking water facilities for the people in relief camps, Joint Director, Health Services for medical facilities and District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Officer for arranging sufficient fodder and medicine for domestic animals in flood-hit areas. Officials were also instructed to prepare a detail report of the actual loss for onward submission to the government for financial sanction. The meeting was also attended by ADC Biswajit Goswami, Circle Officers of Sidli, Bengtal and Bijni Revenue Circles.
