KOKRAJHAR/BONGAIGAON: The Minister of Commerce and Industries and Transport Chandra Mahan Patowary visited the houses of victims and met the widows on Thursday.

"As per direction of the Chief Minister of Assam, I have come to visit Chirang district on my return journey to Dispur after attending cabinet meeting at Bongaigaon, to interact with the beneficiaries of various State and centrally sponsored schemes," Minister for Commerce and Industry and Transport, Chandra Mohan Patowary said.

Minister Patowary made this remarks on Thursday while talking to media persons after visiting the houses of beneficiaries of COVID-19 Widow Support Scheme (CWSS) at Monglagaon, Atul Amrit Yojana (AAA) at Kashikotra, Orunodoi, Indira Miri Universal Widow Pension Scheme (IMUWPS) and Shahid Kushal Kanwar Sarbajanin Bridha Pension Achoni (SKKSBPA) at Sidli Nomalpur. He said, "I have talked to some of the beneficiaries of COVID-19 Widow Support Scheme, Atul Amrit Yojana, Orunodoi, Widow Pension Scheme and Old age Pension Scheme by visiting their houses to meet them personally as well as to ascertain whether they have really got benefited or not under these government schemes."

Expressing his satisfaction, he said that Chirang district has so far done a good job in implementing all these schemes properly in the district, but urged the officers present to put in more concerted efforts towards ensuring welfare of needy people.

During his visit to various places of the district, the minister was accompanied by Sidli MLA Jayanta Basumatary, Chirang Deputy Commissioner Narendra Kumar Shah, Chirang Superintendent of Police Pranjit Borah, Additional Deputy Commissioners Khanindra Das and Ajit Kumar Sarmah, other officials of district administration and district heads of department concerned.
