LAKHIMPUR: A total of 16 Model Anganwadi Centres were ceremonially inaugurated in Lakhimpur district on Sunday. They were inaugurated by Revenue & Disaster Management, Hills Area Development minister Jogen Mohan by attending the ceremonial programmes organized at Napamua Model Anganwadi Centre under Telahi Development Block and Abdul Mazid Path Model Anganwadi Centre at Chapori Gaon under Ward No. 12 of North Lakhimpur town.
Out of them, 11 Model Anganwadi Centres which fall under Lakhimpur LAC are Napamua Model Anganwadi Centre, Abdul Mazid Path Model Anganwadi Centre, Ali Chiga Model Anganwadi Centre, Bhorti Sonowal Model Anganwadi Centre, Bamun Doloni Model Anganwadi Centre, Chowkham Model Anganwadi Centre, Joyhing Bazaar Model Anganwadi Centre, Joyhing Line 15 Model Anganwadi Centre, Kakoi Rajgarh Gohain Model Anganwadi Centre and Phulbari Model Anganwadi Centre. With a plethora of facilities, they have been constructed under 'Sonali Shoishob Bikoshito Axom' scheme adopted by the Government of Assam. Under this scheme, a total of 1,000 Model Anganwadi Centres have been constituted across the State and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma centrally inaugurated them from Bongora under Boko of the Kamrup district.
While inaugurating the Model Anganwadi Centres in Lakhimpur, minister Jogen Mohan said that the old Anganwadi Centres had been upgraded to Model Anganwadi Centres to mould the children as human resource in the true sense. "During their golden childhood, the children pursue their initial education in the Anganwadi Centres. So, it is our duty to provide them all kinds of facilities for their physical and mental development," the minister added. He lauded the Anganwadi workers for their dedicated service to the children.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur, said that each of these Anganwadi Centres had been constructed with the investment of a fund amounting to Rs 25 lakh. He added that fund was already allotted to construct a total of 40 Model Anganwadi Centres in the district. Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka also delivered speech on the occasion. He termed the coming up of these Model Anganwadi Centres as gifts of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to the children. He urged upon the Anganwadi workers and guardians, parents of the children to take proper care of them and to set up vegetable garden, orchard, flower garden at their premises.
The children of the Napamua Model Anganwadi Centre presented cultural items in the programme. ADC Manorama Morang, District Social Welfare Officer in charge Mostafa Salim Ahmed, CLCC chairperson Dulal Chandra Baruah, Lakhimpur district unit BJP president Phanidhar Baruah were among those who were present in the programme.
