Minister Naba Kumar Doley inaugurated Jyoti-Bishnu Sanskritik Prakalpa in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: State Cultural Affairs and Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD) Minister Naba Kumar Doley inaugurated the Jyoti-Bishnu Sanskritik Prakalpa auditorium in Lakhimpur on Friday.

The cultural project was established at Bahpati under Azad area of the district and it was constructed with the investment of a fund amounting to Rs. 50,00,000 under the Directorate of Culture, Government of Assam.

On this occasion, a ceremonial programme was organized wherein the minister took part as chief guest. Inaugurating the cultural project, Naba Kumar Doley appealed to the upcoming generation to preserve the tremendous cultural contributions of Rup Konwar Jyoti Prashad Agarwala and Kalaguru Bishnu Prashad Rabha and to follow their ideologies. He also appealed to them to shape the project as a cultural hub of the area.

In the programme, Lakhimpur MLA Utpal Dutta, Bihpuriya MLA Debananda Hazarika, Director of Culture Jadab Saikia, Deputy Director Pabitra Kumar Pegu, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Jeevan B, social activist Achinta Borah were among those who were present. Vocal artiste Pratistha Borah and Rajashree Borah presented Jyoti Sangeet and Bishnu Rabha Sangeet in the programme.

Notably, though the construction of the project was completed in 2006, the inauguration of the same had been delayed for a long time. As a result of it, the buildings of the project had to go under repair works recently before it was inaugurated. However, an amount of Rs. 8 lakh has been approved by the State Government at present for the construction of the boundary walls of the project.

On the same day, the State P&RD Minister laid the foundation stone for the construction of the office building of Lakhimpur Zila Parishad (ZP) which is to be constructed at Bohotia Borimuri Gaon near North Lakhimpur town. This building will be constructed by investing a fund of Rs. 3,28,74,330 sanctioned under SOPD, 2018-19.

Lakhimpur MLA Utpal Dutta, Bihpuriya MLA Debananda Hazarika, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Jeevan B, and other dignitaries were present in the ceremonial programme organized on this occasion.
