HOJAI: Minister for Environment and Forest, Fisheries and Excise, Parimal Suklabaidya supervised the intensified vaccination drive against COVID-19 here on Wednesday.
Suklabaidya, who is the Guardian Minister for Hojai district visited several COVID vaccination centres to oversee the mass vaccination drive.
The Minister interacted with those coming for vaccination and with the health functionaries during his visit to the Parshuram Majumder Girls' High School, Netaji Lower Primary School, Deshabandhu Vidyapith HS School and Abdul Hasib HS School vaccination centres in Lanka town of Hojai district.
The Guardian Minister met Deputy Commissioner, Sadnek Singh, Superintendent of Police, Barun Purkayastha, MLAs, Ramkrishna Ghose and Sirajuddin Ajmal, district and health officials at DC's conference hall and took an overview of the COVID-19 situation in the district, the mass vaccination drive carried out by the administration together with RAT/RT-PCR tests.
Deputy Commissioner, Singh apprised the Guardian Minister about the ongoing mass vaccination drive and the slew of steps initiated by the administration to bring the COVID situation under control.
Guardian Minister, Suklabaidya expressed his satisfaction over the measures taken by the administration to contain the virus and also thanked the people for coming forward to inoculate themselves in the vaccination centres. "It is only through inoculation we can overcome COVID-19," he said, urging the people to go to their nearest centres to vaccinate themselves.
The district administration set a target of 13,000 vaccination on the last day of the three-day mega vaccination drive, stated a press release.
