Silchar: Information and Public Relations (I & PR) Minister Pijush Hazarika, as per instructions of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, visited Assam Information center (AIC) in New Delhi on Friday and took stock of activities of the Centre and various other related aspects.

Hazarika, who reached New Delhi on Thursday evening, visited the AIC on Friday morning and had a discussion with the officials of Assam information center, New Delhi.

Sharing his reaction, Hazarika told newsmen that the focus of the Centre should be on improving coordination and networking with national media houses and journalists so that positive and developmental news content of the state government finds space in national media.

"The purpose of my visit was to take stock of the activities of the AIC and also to address the problems and issues faced by the staff here so that they can perform their duties with more enthusiasm and confidence," the minister said.

It may be mentioned that as part of revamping initiative, the department had last month temporarily attached an additional information and public relations officer at the AIC from Assam and recruited two more staff at the centre recently.

During the interaction with Hazarika, the reporters drew his attention for renewal of their government accreditation cards. In response, the minister assured that the matter would be addressed soon. Hazarika left for Guwahati on Friday afternoon, stated a press release.
