DEMOW: State Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika visited the Liabil area in Dehing embankment near Demow under Demow Revenue Circle in Thowra Constituency and took stock of the erosion site on Tuesday.
While interacting with media persons, the minister said that this area belonged to the sons of the soil as Mising community people lived there, and hence it was important to protect the life and property of the people. He said that some erosion-protection work in the Liabil area in Dehing embankment would be completed within one week and the other protection works would be started from the month of December.
"The life of a geo bag is 25 years if the geo bags are placed properly," said Pijush Hazarika. He also warned that no one would get money if quality work was not done. He added that the engineers must come to the work site and in the bill submitted by the engineers, they must include a photograph of their visit to the work site or the money would not be released.
The minister was accompanied by Jorhat Lok Sabha MP Tapan Kumar Gogoi, Sushanta Borgohain, MLA of Thowra Constituency, Kushal Dowari, former MLA of Thowra Constituency, Bishnu Kamal Borah, Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar district, along with other officials. Later, Hazarika visited the embankment in Bokota Khamun 2 No Konwar Gaon on Tuesday.
