Minister Ranjit Kumar Dass distributes cheques under micro-finance scheme

DHUBRI: Minister of Panchayat and Rural Development and other portfolios, Ranjit Kumar Dass distributed cheques to women beneficiaries from financially weaker sections for starting income generating activities under micro finance. These cheques were distributed in the course of a function held at Raja Prabhat Chandra Barua field on Sunday.

Addressing the women beneficiaries, Dass said that the financial assistance has been given as a loan and it has to be returned after earning profits from the business and becoming self reliant.

This time the State Government has extended a loan amount of Rs. 25,000 (each) to 35,005 beneficiaries in the Dhubri district.

"The financial grants and other benefits have been extended to beneficiaries keeping in tune with Prime Minister, Narendra Modi's continuous efforts and initiatives to uplift the economically marginalized women," he stated and added, " Assistance under various schemes by way of free LPG connection, free medical treatment, electric connection at the cost of Rs. 100, opening of bank accounts with zero balance, houses under PMAY are being extended to Self-Help Groups along with financial benefits".

Dass mentioned that inspired by the Prime Minister, Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma too is extending financial assistance of Rs. 1250 to about 23 lakh poverty stricken women in the state. Besides this the CM has also promised loan waivers and announced several new schemes for the benefits of the poor women of the state.

The welcome address for the event was delivered by Dhubri Deputy Commissioner, Ambamuthan MP while the Dhubri District Development Commissioner, Kanta Das had anchored the meeting.

The meeting was attended by the chairman of Dhubri Municipal Board, Dr. Debamoy Sanyal and former legislators of Dhubri district.
