TINSUKIA: Sanjoy Kishan, Minister of State for Tea Tribes Welfare & Labour handed over cheques to eight cancer patients of Tinsukia district from the "Chief Minister's Relief Fund" here on Saturday.

The Minister further assured them that all support will be extended to patients with other ailments affected during the COVID-19 pandemic under various schemes initiated by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

FOUNDATION DAY OBSERVED: Tinsukia KVK (Krishi Vigyan Kendra) celebrated the 93rd 'Foundation Day' of ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research), on Friday by organizing a sapling plantation programme at KVK, Tinsukia farm in the presence of 20 farmers and the KVK staff members.

Addressing the gathering, the Head of KVK Tinsukia and Senior Scientist, Dr Sanjoy Borthakur stressed on the importance of planting trees. He motivated the farmers to take up a scientific approach towards farming and assured full support from the KVK in this regard.

PROTEST KEPT IN ABEYANCE: The indefinite protest — resorted to by the staff and employees of the 'Warren Tea Company' over their various demands — has been kept in abeyance till August 3 following a request and assurance from the company's Head office in Kolkata. Members of ACKS (Assam Chah Karmachari Sangha) will hold discussions with ABITA at its office in Dibrugarh on August 3, stated ACKS central secretary Hiten Barua.
