KOKRAJHAR: Sensation prevails in Kokrajhar following the alleged rape of a minor girl of 17 years of age by a IV grade employee of 7th APBn, Choraikhola, Kokrajhar. The accused, Sabha Thakur, a 53 year-old employee of 7th APBn, was arrested by the police on Friday night based on specific information. A case has been registered against Thakur at Kokrajhar police station on Saturday.
As stated in the FIR lodged by a member of Assam State Child Welfare Committee (CWC), on the evening of May 14 at around 10.30 pm, they got information regarding sexual abuse of a 17-year old minor girl at 7th AP BN, Choraikhola, in Kokrajhar district repeatedly on several occasions since the last 7-8 years by one Sabha Takur (53), Grade IV employees at 7th AP BN, Choraikhola, who is a friend of the victim's father. The victim is a student of Class XII.
According to the victim, she was sexually abused since her childhood and raped for the first time when she was in Class VII and since then she had been raped on several occasions by Sabha Thakur. He threatened her not to tell anyone or she would be killed. She shared her ordeal on WhatsApp with her friends seeking help. She has even attempted suicide on two occasions. According to her, she had informed her parents but they too asked her to remain silent.
As per information, the girl was allegedly illegally adopted by her parents. A case vide no 373/2021, under section-376, IPC, sec -4/7, POCSO act was registered against accused Sabha Thakur at Kokrajhar police station. The matter is being investigated.
