Minor girl shoots herself, sustains head injury in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH: A 15-year-old girl, Ishani Bezbaruah allegedly shot herself at her residence at Amollapatty Guard quarter area in Dibrugarh on Friday afternoon. She is admitted at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in the ICU in a critical condition with head injuries. She is under ventilation.

The incident took place at her residence at Amollapatty, Dibrugarh at around 12:30pm. Her father, Pranjit Bezbaruah is an authorized arms dealer. He runs his arms business from his shop (DKB GUN HOUSE)-cum-residence premises.

AMCH Superintendent Prasanta Dehingia said, "The girl was admitted in the ICU in a critical condition. She was brought to AMCH in the afternoon. She had bullet injury in her head. She is under observation and a team of doctors are looking after her. We are giving the best treatment. Her blood pressure is normal but we cannot say about the injury right now because an investigation has started."

Talking to The Sentinel, Dibrugarh Additional Superintendent of Police (HQ), Bitul Chetia said, "The investigation is in the preliminary stage. Right now we cannot say anything. We are trying to speak with the family but they are in the hospital." Chetia said, "Right now we cannot say if it was a case of suicidal attempt. Investigation will clarify the whole incident."
