Miscreants loot 7 carat Gold and Cash in Karimganj district on the Eve of Dhanteras

Karimganj: On the eve of Dhanteras, a family in Karimganj district of Assam had a shock of their life after they found their house ransacked and gold pieces of jewellery, cash missing from their almirah.

As per reports, the owner of the house Ajit Das located at Longal road in Karimganj was looted by unidentified miscreants.

Reportedly, miscreants broke into the house escaped with seven-carat gold jewelleries and cash worth of Rs. 60,000 and other valuable items.

Early morning Ajit Das and his family had gone to the nearest temple to offer their prayers. That was the time the miscreants found a golden chance to break into the house and take away the loot.

Speaking to media, Ajit Das said that they were not at home when the theft took place. “The miscreants entered the house from the backside and managed to break the lock of the doors. The thieves broke the almirah and fled with gold and cash,” said Ajit Das.

Meanwhile, a case has been lodged at the Karimganj Police Station in this regard.

It may be mentioned that ‘Dhanteras’ which marks the start of the Diwali festival is considered an auspicious day to buy gold, silver, and other valuable items and that day itself thieves robbed gold jewelleries and other valuable items from the house.
