GAURISAGAR: Sensation prevailed at Jhanji when a group of miscreants looted fish worth Rs 1 lakh and cash Rs 9,500 from a fish-laden truck on Sunday morning at Jhanji Kathalbari under Gaurisagar police station in Sivasagar district. According to report, a fish-laden Tata Di truck bearing registration no AS 02 BC 8772 was coming from Nowgaon to Duliajan. Suddenly a gang of 10-12 miscreants wearing black masks obstructed the truck with a new mini dumper without any registration number. The miscreants hit the driver and snatched away the mobile phones of all persons in the truck and the keys of the truck. They also attacked the truck with sharp weapons. The miscreants also threatened the driver and three others in the truck showing a pistol and looted fish worth Rs 1 lakh and cash Rs 9,500. Truck driver Hobibur Rahman rushed to the Gaurisagar Police Station and lodged an FIR. Gaurisagar police arrested one Gopal Das in connection to the incident and seized the dumper. Police investigation is on.
