Assam: Assam forest minister Parimal Suklabaidya encouraged the Mizo community to keep developing their agriculture however, he insisted that they do it in their own soil. According to the minister, till date, about 1.5 km of land has been occupied by Mizoram near Assam-Mizoram border.
"We have been requesting them to go back," said Suklabaidya.
Chief Secretary of Assam, Jishnu Barua said that the security personnel from Mizoram have encroached parts of our territory. Government of India offered help by indicating that some forces will be made available.
Officials await the arrival of these forces for peace to resume between border areas of both the states.
Meanwhile, central security forces might be deployed soon in the Assam-Mizoram border to clear the air between both sides.
Areas along the 164 km border have been taut since last month due to violent incidents resulting in injury on both sides.
