BISWANATH CHARIALI: The eleventh Smriti Udyan (memorial park) in Chariali Higher Secondary and Multipurpose School was officially inaugurated on Sunday by MLA of Biswanath, Pramod Borthakur. In the inaugural meeting presided over by Vishnu Upadhyay, President of the School Management Committee, the MLA said that the memory of those who had died would come alive with the opening of the park. At the meeting, Biswanath Zila Parishad member Satyendranath Hazarika, Biswanath Revenue Circle Officer Biswajit Saikia, Chariali Higher Secondary and Multipurpose School Principal Swapna Bara Das, among others were present. It may be mentioned here that the park has been constructed in the fond memory of the eleven students and teachers of the school who had lost their lives in the Brahmaputra River while immersing Goddess Saraswati idol on this day in 1963.
