SIVASAGAR: In an effort to review management plans during unprecedented emergency situations and improve the ability to respond faster, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Sivasagar, recently conducted a multi-state mock earthquake exercise at five different locations in the Sivasagar district.

Major line departments of the district such as Health, PWD (B), PWD (Roads), APDCL, Social Welfare, Education, Police, Transport, FCS & CA etc. and other response agencies i.e. NDRF 12 Bn, SDRF, F & ES, Civil Defence, Army, CRPF 149 Bn., volunteers of Civil Defence, AAPDA MITRA Volunteers, Home Guard and Raj Hansh Club joined the entire process of the mock exercise.

Three observers from CRPF and NDRF 12 Bn. evaluated the entire scenario of the mock drill. Observations found were shared to NDMA, ASDMA during virtual debriefing session after mock exercise. The mock drill could help the district to find the gaps between its preparedness and response activities.

The entire exercise was conducted under the command and control of the Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman, DDMA, Sivasagar with approximately 300 participants. The NDMA and ASDMA authorities appreciated the district administration accordingly for successful completion of the exercise.
