MORIGAON: Morigaon Forest Office seized a vehicle (AS 21 C 1852) carrying 18 teak logs illegally on Saturday night. Two persons were arrested.

The two arrested persons are residents of Ahatguri village in the Morigaon district. They are Praveen Das (28) and Amal Das (18). Another suspected person, identified as Bhakta Patar, managed to escape. The illegal timber seized weighed about 34 cubic feet and the market value of the seized timber is around Rs 50,000. The seized timber has been kept at the Morigaon Forest Office premises. It is suspected that the teak logs had been smuggled from the Tetelia-Baghara reserve forest. The two accused are now in police custody.
