MP Naba Sarania's ST certificate likely to be cancelled soon: Janaklal Basumatary

KOKRAJHAR: Janaklal Basumatary, president of Bodoland Janajati Suraksha Mancha (BJSM), who is challenging the ST status of Kokrajhar MP Naba Kr. Sarania, said that his ST certificate could be cancelled any time soon. He slammed Sarania for working against the tribal communities and tribal institutions.

Basumatary said that MP Naba Kr. Sarania, a self-proclaimed O Boro (non-Boro), was going to lose his ST certificate very soon. Despite his non-Boro status he obtained ST certificate as Boro Kachari fraudulently, alleged Basumatary. He said the vigilance enquiry report had already confirmed that his parents did not belong to Boro Kachari community but to Sarukoch or Koch, which was not notified as ST.

"That he is not Boro was confirmed in his speech against the Boro language recently in a bike rally organized by the O-Boro Suraksha Samity and GSP party workers at Tamalpur to kick-off his BTC election campaign," he said. "Sarania has fielded O-Bodo candidates with fake ST certificates in 7 ST reserved constituencies for the BTC election. They will meet the same fate as him," Basumatary said.
