LAKHIMPUR: "Stringent steps will be taken against corruption which is allegedly taking place while implementing relief packages meant for poor people during the lockdown period. Legal action will be initiated after launching due enquiries if any well to do persons or fake beneficiaries have availed the benefits of the relief packages. In this regard, nobody will be released if found guilty," stated MP Pradan Baruah while addressing a press conference convened at the North Lakhimpur Press Club on Friday. Notably, the MP highlighted on the relief packages of providing cash and food items which are being adopted by the State Government in order to help the needy families and persons adversely affected by the ongoing lockdown. He further asserted that the repair and construction works of the weak and unplugged embankments of Lakhimpur district were underway.

"Moreover, the repair and construction work of some more embankments under the district will be started very soon. The implementation of these schemes will be completed by the onset of the rainy season," he added.

Replying to the queries, the MP declared that due punishment would be rewarded to the corrupt after the enquiry is conducted by Intelligence Bureau regarding the misappropriation of funds meant for the PM Kishan Yojana, Mukhyamantir Sa-Sajuli Yojana and PM Garib Yojana.
