Municipal Board Election: BJP expresses confidence in winning all seats in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: With the date of polling for Assam Municipal Board Election, 2022 coming near, the political party candidates and the independent candidates under four municipal boards of Lakhimpur district have jumped on extensive campaigns in their respective wards. The candidates of the ruling party BJP have been seen campaigning aggressively in all four municipal boards. Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka has campaigned for the BJP and its alliance AGP candidates in North Lakhimpur Municipal Board area while Bihpuriya MLA Dr. Amiya Kumar Deka has campaigned in Bihpuriya and Narayanpur Municipal Board areas. On the other hand, former Panchayat & Rural Development Department Minister-cum-existing Dhakuakhana MLA Naba Kumar Doley has campaigned ward by ward under Dhakuakhana Municipal Board for AGP-BJP alliance candidates. Similarly, Lakhimpur district unit BJP president Phanidhar Baruah along with other district leaders have also taken to place by place campaigning for AGP-BJP alliance candidates.

The Lakhimpur district unit BJP formally released the Sankalpa Patra, the Municipal Board Election manifesto of the party, along with its district based Appeal on Monday. On this occasion, the District Committee of the party organized a ceremonial programme in the party's chief election office at Khelmati in North Lakhimpur town. The Sankalpa Patra and the Appeal were released by BJP State Committee vice-president-cum-Lakhimpur district in-charge Ashok Bhattarai and Lakhimpur district president Phanidhar Baruah in the presence of Lakhimpur MLA Manav Deka, other party leaders, contesting candidates, members and supporters.

While delivering a lecture, Phanidhar Baruah said, "In the manifesto, our party has promised to solve the civic issues, including waste management by segregating and disposing the same scientifically, round-the-clock tap water, construction of modern and scientific auditoriums, systematic vending zones, clock towers and public toilets particularly for women in the municipal areas, streetlights and parking places. These promises will be fulfilled in Lakhimpur district too.

On the other hand, the District in-charge Ashok Bhattarai highlighted the developmental activities and the success of the BJP-led Government in Lakhimpur district in the past years. He expressed strong confidence of winning all the municipal board seats in the district.
