TINSUKIA: A total of 212 candidates submitted their nomination papers for upcoming municipal elections in six municipal boards, namely Tinsukia, Makum, Doomdooma, Digboi, Margherita and Chapakhowa (Sadiya) under Tinsukia district till the last date of submission. While Tinsukia has 15 wards, the rest all consists of 10 wards each.

As many as 70 candidates have submitted nominations for election to Tinsukia Municipal Board while BJP has put up candidates in all 15 wards. The number of candidates from other political parties - INC- 14, AGP-2, AJP- 8, AAP-9, PGP-4, RD-2 and Independent-16.

For Makum Municipal Board, out of 33 candidates, BJP and INC will contest in all 10 wards while AGP has filed nomination for three wards with Independent candidates contesting in 10 wards. In Doomdooma, 26 candidates have filed their nominations for 10 wards with BJP contesting in all the wards. The INC has put up double candidate in ward no. 3 apprehending cancellation of one while AGP and AJP will contest in three and two wards respectively.

For Chapakhowa (Sadiya) Municipal Board, 31 candidates have filed their nominations of which the BJP will contest in 9 wards with AGP 1, AJP 4 and 6 Independent candidates while INC will contest with 11 candidates having fielded two candidates in Ward no 1.

In Digboi Municipal poll, 28 candidates will contest. While BJP and INC submitted nominations against all 10 Wards, the AJP filed nomination for 3 wards along with 5 Independent candidates.

A total of 25 candidates submitted their nominations against 10 wards in Margherita Municipal Boards of which the BJP will contest in all the 10 wards while corresponding figure for political parties are AJP-5, AGP-1, INC-6 and Independent-3.
