GUWAHATI: Ruprekha Bora who has lost his husband in the boat tragedy in Brahmaputra River has recounted how her husband died while saving others.

Ruprekha said her husband Indreswar Bora had told her not to worry and asked her to go ahead as Indreswar wanted to recuse others.

"Don't worry, you go ahead. Let me check if I can rescue others"-those were the exact words my husband had told me, said Ruprekha.

Body of Indreswar Boa was recovered by the forest department officials near Kaziranga National Park in Biswanath on Saturday.

He was missing since the boat tragedy on Wednesday.

The NDRF and SDRF personnel continued the search operation as another Bikramjit Barua of Jorhat has been missing from then.

"When water started to enter the boat, he started to rescue people. After rescuing some, he then rescued me and told me that I should not worry. Then he again went back to rescue others but within seconds, the boat toppled and I couldn't see him after that," she remembered.

She said that her husband was unhappy with the condition of the ferry and with the system.

"But we had to enter inside the ferry as out parents were not well and we need to reach home to take care of them", she said.

The family of Bora ha also urge the Assam government to recognize his bravery and sacrifice officially.

Earlier, on Wednesday after two boats with about a hundred passengers sunk after colliding with each other in the river Brahmaputra in Jorhat, Assam. The incident is said to have taken place in Jorhat's Nimati Ghat, which is about 350 kilometres from Guwahati. Of the two boats, one was a government passenger ferry that belonged to the Inland Water Transport department and the other was a public boat. The government ferry was coming from Majuli while the other boat was moving in towards the opposite direction.
