Silchar: A 30-year-old Myanmar national of the Rohingya community was apprehended from a train at New Haflong station in Assam's Dima Hasao district for travelling without valid documents.

According to a report by TOI, the man was held on Sunday from a Bhopal-bound train and an initial investigation revealed that the man has suspected links with Pakistani terror groups in terms of financial transactions.

The report further said that the man identified as Noorul Amin had boarded the Agartala-Rani Kamlapati special train from Badarpur railway station in south Assam on Sunday for Rani Kamlapati station in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

''When the train was about to reach New Haflong station in the Dima Hasao district, two Travelling Ticket Examiners (TTEs) checked Noorul's ticket and asked him to produce identity proof. Accordingly, the documents shown by him revealed that he was a native of Myanmar. However, when TTEs further asked to show some more documents to prove whether he is traveling in India legally or not,'' TOI quoted Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) sources as saying.

However, he could not show any such document following which the TTEs contacted RPF and as the train reached New Haflong station, the RPF took him in custody.

After questioning him for some time, the RPF handed him over to the Government Railway Police (GRP), New Haflong station.

So far, the initial probe has revealed that he has links with Pakistan-based organisations in terms of financial transactions.
