NAGAON: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nagaon organized a two-day long training of trainers on 'mechanization (seed to seed), drying and storage' here at its office premise since Monday.

The training programme was held under Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation. Dr Niranjan Deka, principal scientist and head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nagaon, ceremonially inaugurated the training programme. In his inaugural speech, Dr Deka elaborated the objectives of the programme and also recorded the benefits of using machinery that reduces the labour cost and time. Dr Deka urged the farmers community to come forward to avail the facilities of those farm machineries. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Nagaon Bijita Deka attended the programme as the chief guest while Dr Arunima Deb Chaudhary, honorary consultant, APART, Ranjan Deka, district agriculture officer, Biswajit Nath, executive engineer, Department of Agriculture, Nagaon, other scientists as well as staff of KVK, Nagaon were present in the inaugural session of the programme.

Over 25 FPC/ FPO members, including progressive farmers, representing various blocks of the district participated in the training programme. During the programme, demonstration of various farm machineries was presented under the supervision of Dr Surya Kant Khandai, associate scientist, IRRI in KVK, Nagaon. Dr Khandai explained about the purposes and uses of different machineries like mini combine harvester, reaper, seed-cum-fertilizer drill, portable rice mill, solar bubble dryer, laser land leveller, recirculating batch dryer etc.
