NAHARKATIA: Naharkatia MLA Taranga Gogoi made a voyage in a boat along with the officials of the Water Resources Department and media persons to observe the erosion hit areas on the banks of river Burhi Dihing that falls under Naharkatia constituency.

During the 7 hours motorboat trip that covered 22 kilometres, Gogoi observed erosion hit areas of Tanti Pathar Manipuri Basti A, Tanti Pathar Manipuri Basti B, Nakte Village, Konwar Village A, Konwar Village B, Uttam Mati, Jagun Gaon, Amguri, Kaibarta Gaon, Uriamguri, Bamunibil and Kolagora areas spread over from Jaipur to Sasoni of the Naharkatiya Constituency.

"Today I have visited along with the concerned Water Resources Department officials to find out solutions of the age-old erosion problem on the banks of the River Burhi Dihing," Taranga Gogoi stated.

"Honorable Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika already confirmed of obtaining a scheme of Rs 635 crore for the solution of erosion hit areas of the State. It has already been decided that the Naharkatiya constituency will get a scheme of Rs 109 crore for the solution of erosion problems of flood-prone areas of the constituency," said Gogoi.

Explaining his findings, Gogoi said, "we spotted 12 areas as highest erosion affected points. These points covering approximately 5,850 metres will be covered soon under the scheme."
