Nalbari district unit of AJYCP submits memorandum against toxic fish supply

NALBARI: The Nalbari district unit of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) led by District Committee president Nirod Das and general secretary Jogesh Kalita, in the presence of Advisor Brajen Chowdhury, joint secretary Pranjal Kalita, organizing secretary Gyandeep Sarma, finance secretary Manjit Barman and City Committee president Nayan Sarma, submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the district administration on Friday against the toxic imported fish available in the market.

A recent study by the Department of Zoology of Nagaon College has found evidence of toxic formalin, cadmium and arsenic in imported fish available in the market. Fish containing formalin are posing a threat to the health of the people of the district. AJYCP has demanded that the import of fish should be stopped.
