"Name Of Guwahati Airport Will Always Remain As Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport": Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has re-assured the people of the state that there will be no change in the name of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport after its privatisation. This announcement was made after Assam CM Sarma's meeting with the person spearheading Adani Airports, Mr. Jeet Adani, of Adani Group. 

He said that authorities of the Adani Group have no intention of changing the name of the Guwahati Airport and has also expressed the same to the Chief Minister. He further added that the company has promised to transform the airport into one of the best airports in the country.

This news was shared by the Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of his official Twitter handle. The tweet read, "Met Sri Jeet Adani, Promoter, Airports @AdaniOnline today. During discussions, I clearly told that name of Guwahati Airport will always remain as Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport. Sri Adani assured that & further committed to develop this as among the best airports in India".

In a recent news, an amount of approx. 90,000 US dollars was recovered by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) of LGBI Airport from a domestic air passenger travelling to Imphal. The incident took place around 9:30 am on September 1. This would amount to approx. 65,70,000 in Indian currency. An addition of Rs. 3950 INR was also recovered from the passenger.
