TINSUKIA: Assam's Minister for Power and Mines & Minerals, Nandita Gorlosa held a review meeting with officials of the APDCL and Assam Power Grid Corporation Limited at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner's office here on Sunday and directed them to ensure power connection to all health centres, Anganwadi centres and schools.

Expressing concern over pilferage of power, accident-prone old electrical poles and arrear revenue, the Minister asked the officials to immediately replace old electrical poles and to initiate steps for recovery of arrear bills from tea gardens. She also asked officials to provide uninterrupted power supply to health centres, schools etc.

The meeting was attended by Minister Sanjoy Kishan and Suren Phukan and Rupesh Guwala, the MLAs of Digboi and Doomdooma respectively, the DC of Tinsukia, Narsing Pawar, besides others.

Later, the Power Minister visited the newly reopened Tikok colliery under the North Eastern Coal Fields and held a review meeting with the General Manager, SP Dutta and other officials. She also enquired about mining operation, transportation and CSR activities. She suggested that the officials should initiate steps for environment conservation of the locality along with rest of the State through CSR activities.
