LAKHIMPUR: Narayanpur Lekhika Samaroh Samiti organized a symposium on two separate subjects on Sunday with a day-long programme.
The agenda of the programme began with the unfurling of flag by president Nirupama Borah after a massive cleaning drive was undertaken. The open session organized on the occasion commenced with the president in the chair. It was inaugurated by Lakhimpur district unit Lakhika Samaroh Samiti president Moromi Hazarika Saikia.
Professor Jogen Tamuli took part as the resource person of the symposium on a stipulated topic on Bihu festival. He delivered an illustrative speech on ‘The heritage of Bihu and the relevance of stage Bihu at present’. On the other hand, Biswanath district Lekhika Samaroh Samiti secretary Renu Saikia forwarded her discussion on ‘The role of women in the preservation of folk culture’ in the event which was anchored by Narayanpur Lekhika Samaroh Samiti secretary Anima Saikia Kakati.
In the same event, prominent social activists of Narayanpur, Bipul Bhuyan, Achyut Saikia, writer Bharati Saikia and teacher Jayanta Madhab Borah were given warm felicitation with phulam gamosa, bundle of books and citation for their contribution in different fields of society.
