Narcotics Captured in Lumding, Suspected Female Peddlers Arrested
LUMDING: Transporting narcotics by train has seen no chance of stopping even after consignments are being captured every day. In yet another development, another consignment of narcotics was captured at the Lumding railway station.
Based on specific inputs, the Railway Protection Force and the Government railway police undertook a combined operation on a train at the Lumding station. The operation was carried out on the Down Kanchenjungha Express. And they were able to seize a total of nine packets of contraband cannabis during the search.
According to the police, the captured cannabis was being moved from Agartala, the capital of Tripura to Bihar. Two women were also apprehended by the security forces in regard to the seized consignment of narcotics. Both of them are said to be residents of Bihar.
It is important to note that a big gang of female peddlers were captured by police in the same railway station in the past.
In yet another incident of the same category, Lumding police were able to capture a good amount of narcotic substances. Acting based on specific inputs, a team from the Lumding Police Station carried out an operation near the Lumding Railway Station on the morning of Thursday. They were able to seize a total of 40 kilos of cannabis. They were also able to apprehend a suspected pedler regarding the incident.
According to the police, this consignment was transported from Dimapur and was on its way to Bihar by train when it was confiscated by the police. The identity of the suspected peddler was revealed to be Bhola Keot from Kheroni in Lanka. The price of the narcotics is expected to be around Rs 4 lakh according to the police. And the apprehended peddler is expected to be presented before the Shankardev Nagar Court.
