National award to assistant professor of Biswanath College

BISWANATH CHARIALI/JAMUGURIHAT: Assistant Professor of Biswanath College, DrNilofer Sheikh has been conferred with the prestigious Arun Pandey Medal Award from the Eastern Himalayan Society for Spermatophyte Taxonomy (EHSST).

This news led to jubilation among the teachers, non- teaching staff and students, besides well wishers of the college. Dr Sheikh has carried out many experiments in the field of Phanerogams from Northeast India. Further, she has published more than 19 national and international research papers in various research journals in this regard and edited two research books so far.

DrChinta Mani Sharma, Principal of the college, stated in a release that Biswanath College Institutions Innovation cell got a 2.5 star rating under IIC of Ministry of Education, Government of India for the calendar year 2019-20 and it has been placed in the 35th position in the list of higher educational institutions of the eastern region. Biswanath College is in 4th position from Assam in this list.
