Kokrajhar: Different factions of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) observed the 31st Martyrs’ Day of the outfit in different places on Saturday in a befitting manner. The NDFB (Progressive) observed the day in their designated camps in Kokrajhar, Baksa and Udalguri.

Talking to reporters, S. Sanjarang, the general secretary of NDFB (P), which has been in a peace dialogue with the Government of India for the last 14 years, observed its 31st martyrs’ day in all the designated camps with a day-long programme. Since October 3, 1986 more than 2,000 members and cadres made supreme sacrifice for the sake of the Bodoland state. The dreams of the martyrs will not go in vain, said Sanjarang. He urged the government to take a bold and pragmatic decision to resolve the Boroland problem.

He said the National Democratic Front of Bodoland NDFB (P) declared ceasefire in 2005 after 19 years of armed struggle for Boroland and engaged in peace talks. But in more than 12 years of their ceasefire, the Government of India has not taken proactive measure for political solution of their problems, he added. In Serfanguri designated camp, B Bengga, judicial secretary, hoisted the organizational flag at half-mast as a mark of respect of the martyrs.
