LAKHIMPUR: The National Education Day was observed on Friday at Lakhimpur Commerce College, commemorating the 134th birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, eminent freedom fighter and independent India's first Education Minister. A meeting was organized for the occasion by the publication cell of the college in association with the Department of Education. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Lohit Hazarika, Principal of the college.

On this occasion, the college, led by its principal, paid a rich tribute to India's first education minister by lighting the ceremonial lamp in front of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad's portrait. The meeting began with a Swaraswati Vandana recited by Himadri Deka Buragohain. The welcome address of the meeting was delivered by Runjun Baruah, Librarian of the college. A speech on 'Reforms in New Education Policy' was delivered by Pinky Burman, Assistant Professor of the Department of Education of the college. A solo dance on Right to Education and child labour was performed by Rahul Gogoi.
