NATIONAL GIRL CHILD DAY CELEBRATION: MP Pallab Lochan Das administers pledge

TEZPUR: To mark the beginning of the weeklong celebrations of National Girl Child Day for the year 2023, Member of Parliament, Tezpur HPC, Pallab Lochan Das on Wednesday administered the pledge for 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' to the officials of all establishments under Sonitpur district administration on the sidelines of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting of Sonitpur district held at Tezpur Convention Centre at Batamari, Tezpur.
The DISHA meeting was attended by MLAs Padma Hazarika, Ganesh Limboo, Prithiraj Rava, Krishna Kamal Tanti, chairperson, Sonitpur Zila Parishad, Dolly Surin, DC Deba Kumar Mishra, other senior district administration officials, heads of various government departments, BDOs, Panchayati Raj representatives, bank and other officials concerned.
As per instructions received from the Government of India, the National Girl Child Day will be observed across the district with various programmes such as a signature campaign in prominent places of the district, such as DC's office, SP's office, office of the Joint Director, Health Services and prominent public places such as bus/ railway stations or market places; special gram sabhas on adolescence empowerment; poster making and slogan writing competitions in various high schools and junior colleges on the theme of 'Girls' Empowerment' and other similar activities.
The closing ceremony will be marked by a district-level meeting through a multi-stakeholder consultation and the district-level achievers, such as girls who have performed well at the board examinations or excelled in higher studies, boys/ men who have done exemplary work for gender equality will be felicitated on the occasion.
