National Human Rights and Crime Control Bureau seeks online RTI system in Assam

JAMUGURIHAT: The National Human Rights and Crime Control Bureau (NHRCB) has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, requesting them to take necessary measures to implement the online RTI system in Assam.

Talking to this correspondent, the organization's Sonitpur District Media Officer Mrinmay Kumar Nath said that while there was no facility to file online RTI applications in government offices under the Assam government. On the contrary, online applications are available in many states of India, including Bihar. He also added that due to non-availability of online RTI system, the public face many problems in obtaining the necessary information. He further added that the most common problems faced by the public in this regard was the scarcity of postal orders in post offices in rural areas and long delay in receiving such postal orders on demand. Nishant Thord, chairman of NHRCB Assam chapter, has requested the offices under the Government of Assam to arrange online RTI as soon as possible.
