National Institute of Technology Silchar and Asssan University Sign MOU

SILCHAR: A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between two premier educational institutions of Assam located in Silchar, the National Institute of Technology and Assam University on Monday.

Professor Rajat Gupta, the Director in charge of the National Institute of Technology, Silchar and Professor Rajive Mohan Pant, Vice Chancellor of the Assam University, Silchar signed this agreement representing their institutions. The Registrars of both institutions were also present during the event. Dr PK Nath from Assam University Silchar and Profesor KL Baishnab from National Institute of Technology Silchar are the respective Registrars.

This agreement is expected to usher in a new age of collaboration between the two educational institutions and foster an environment of research and development. It is also aligned with the National Education Policy of 2020 which enables a more practical approach to the education system of the country. Although both institutions are located at a very small distance from each other, there was no formal collaboration on a major scale before this agreement.

National Institute of Technology, Silchar had signed a memorandum of understanding with the North East Space Application Centre, an ISRO at the end of last month. Dr SP Aggarwal, director of NESAC and Prof Shivaji Bandyopadhyay, director of NIT signed the document. Prof Bandyopadhyay had said that the MoU marked a new milestone for incubation, cooperation, and collaboration at NIT in the field of space science and technology. Dreams of NIT students and faculty members may now come true thanks to cutting-edge space technology research.

Aligning with the National Education Policy of 2020, the education department of the state of Assam had also changed the format of the examinations at the class ten level, known as the High School Leaving Certificate examination. Changes in higher studies are also being implemented gradually in a phased manner.
