MORIGAON: The central committee of the National Movement for Pension Scheme, Assam (NMOPS) has demanded the government to nullify the National Pension Scheme (NPS) immediately for the safety and the security of the 1.50 lakh employees who have been deprived of getting the benefit of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
The organization, led by its national media secretary, Manjit Singh Patel accompanied by the general secretary of Assam, Bhabananda Bora on Monday opposed the NMOPS and asked the government to re-implement the OPS for the greater interest of the employees who have been deprived of getting the benefit of OPS.
Manjit Singg Patel said, "Altogether 70 lakh employees have been fighting for the safety and the security of their families. The government has not paid any interest to the safety and security of the 70 lakh employees. If government does not nullify the NMOPS immediately, the lives of 70 lakh families will become insecure."
The organization also asked the government to bring them under the OPS as the NMOPS was being run under the aegis of the private organization NSDL which always depended on the share market.
