Haflong: Dima Hasao District Information and Public Relations Department, with the theme 'Who is not afraid of media?', celebrated National Press Day at the office of the District Information and Public Relations Office, Haflong on Tuesday in a befitting way.

Many senior and junior members of the media fraternity of the district and the staff of the department participated in the event. An open session on the theme was also organized with DIPRO, SDIPRO Purabi Phonglo, Purnima Hakmosa and others.

BISWANATH CHARIALI: National Press Day was celebrated on Tuesday in Biswanath Chariali Municipality Auditorium under the aegis of the Subdivisional Information and Public Relation Office, Biswanath in association with Biswanath district administration. The meeting was inaugurated by the newly-appointed Biswanath Deputy Commissioner Deva Kumar Mishra by lighting the lamp. The chief guest and Principal of Biswanath College, Dr Chintamani Sharma assisted in lighting the lamp. The welcome address was delivered by Subdivisional Information and Public Relation Officer Supratim Dey. Deputy Commissioner Deva Kumar Mishra, in his speech, greeted everyone on the occasion of National Press Day and called upon all to work together for the overall development of Biswanath district.

Dipam Barman, SDO (Sadar), while highlighting the functioning of the journalists, commented that the journalists should cover literary, social and art related news equally. Senior journalist Naren Bora, chief guest Dr Chintamani Sharma highlighted the importance of National Press Day and threw light on the importance of media in the present times. The programme was conducted by journalist Niranjan Hajrika. Bhuban Luitel of Behali, Bhaskar Jyoti Bhuyan of Halem and Hemanta Saikia of Chatia were felicitated with phulam gamosa, citation and xarai.
