BARPETA:  The valediction programme of 'National Road Safety Month' was held on Wednesday at Barpeta district Transport Office after a month-long road safety programme. The programme had begun on January 18.

On this occasion, frontline workers like journalists were felicitated for implementing the road safety month properly. Barpeta District Transport Officer Himangshu Das stated that frontline workers like drivers had done a lot for the society. Moreover, Das said that the rate of accidents had increased due to an increase in number of vehicles and deplorable road conditions of the area. Himangshu Das assured that the transport department would put in every effort to reduce road accidents and also to make people aware about the probable danger of road accidents. Pankaj Das, Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI), and Angawadi workers and other officials were present.
