DOOMDOOMA: National Science Day (NSD) was observed by Padma Nath Gohain Baruah Government Model College, Kakapather situated at Amguri Nagaon near Dirak, about 21 km away from here, on Tuesday in collaboration with Assam Science Society (ASS), Doomdooma branch.
The meeting was presided over by Dr Thanuram Majinder, Principal of the college, while Sanjib Kalita, Head of English Department, explained the objectives of the meeting and felicitated the guests. In the beginning, one-minute silence was observed in memory of Dr YP Ojha, former president, ASS, Doomdooma branch. Dhiren Deka, a former executive committee member and a life member of ASS, spoke on the theme of National Science Day- 'Future of Science, Technology, Innovation: Impacts on Education, Skills and Work' and dwelt on various aspects of the life and achievements of Nobel laureate CV Raman.
Dr Miladev Goswami, another life member of ASS, spoke on the current healthcare system in the backdrop of COVID-19 pandemic and offered valuable suggestions for a healthy lifestyle. The meeting was also attended by two other life members -Arjun Baruah, president of Tinisukia Zila Sahitya Sabha, and Jhikananda Borgohain, former Principal, Doomdooma Hoonlal HS School.
