GUWAHATI: A national webinar on the topic of intellectual property rights in education was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Lanka Mahavidyalaya, Lanka, Hojai, Assam, on September 12 with an aim to make familiar the concept of Intellectual property rights in education among educationists, researchers and students. About 200 educationists, researcher and students participated in the webinar.
Participating in the webinar, Prof. Sanjay Kumar Singh, HOD, Lib. & Inf. Sc., Gauhati University as resource person discuss in details about Intellectual Property Law in India, viz., Copy Rights in Higher Education- 1957, Patent Act-1970, Design Act-2000, Trade Mark Act-1999 etc. Further, he discussed about Rights, Grant of Patent along with patentable, non-patentable articles and list of registered, non-registered articles. Also, he emphasized about the necessary protocols that are to be maintained on writing projects, assignments and articles by the students and researchers.
The Principal of the college, Dr. A.S. Bhui in his inaugural speech gave an overview of the necessity of the discussion on intellectual property rights. The webinar starts with a welcome address from the Coordinator, IQAC, of the college, Dr. LukendraKakati. Further, Academic coordinator of the college, Sri D. Kalita in his speech gave an overview of the IPR.
The meeting came to an end with vote of thanks from Dr.IftikharHussain , Jt. Coordinator, IQAC and the entire program was coordinated by Dr. LukendraKakati, Coordinator, IQAC, with active support from technical coordinators, Sri I.M.Hazarika, HOD, Assamese and Sri Hemanta Bora, Asstt. Professor, IT , of the college.
