NC Hills Indigenous Students’ Forum calls for indefinite rail blockade

Haflong: The NC Hills Indigenous Students’ Forum has called for an indefinite rail blockade from March 7 as the Railway authority has allegedly failed to keep its promise of releasing compensation till date. In a letter to the Deputy Commissioner of Dima Hasao, the NCHISF stated that in spite of long and continuous demand for compensation for the people affected by the BG Line conversion in the district, the Railway Authority kept on delaying the release of compensation by always giving false assurances even after having several joint meetings with the Chief Secretary, Government of Assam, and the General Manager, NF Railway. Now, the forum has no other option rather than to launch the agitation programme, the letter further stated.
