LAKHIMPUR: The all ranks of 72 Assam Girls (Independent) Company NCC, North Lakhimpur, led by Officer Commanding Colonel Jasbir Singh Cheema, along with all its Colleges and schools, spread over the district of Lakhimpur and Dhemaji celebrated the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Day on Sunday. Notably, (NCC) day is celebrated every year on the fourth Sunday in the month of November. The NCC in India was formed by the National Cadet Corps Act of 1948 on 15th Jul 1948.

The event was celebrated as a Homage Week from November 17 culminating on November 22. The week-long events included drawing competition, slogan writing competition. In addition to them cultural competition was also organized at LTK College, Azad on Sunday. It was attended by Dr. Bubul Saikia, the principal of the college as chief guest. Vice Principal of LTK College, N/b Sub Dasrath, College NCC Officers Kalyani Knowar, Binita Saharia, and Rajumoni Gogoi, Hav Johny, Hav Akhil, Nk Sumer, Cadets of Dhemaji College, Dhemaji Girls College, Lakhimpur Girls College, LTK College, Azad, Laluk HS School also took part in the programme which was anchored by Girl Cadet Instructor Sangita. The celebration of the event started with the welcoming of guests. It was followed by a plantation drive. The chief guest delivered an informative lecture encouraging the cadets. The event concluded with the national anthem.
