KOKRAJHAR: Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Kokrajhar organized a district-level neighborhood youth parliament programme based on Y20, which is a part of G20, on Saturday at Aashirbad Bhavan, Kokrajhar.

The theme of the programme was Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. In the programme, along with Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, topics like child marriage, International Year of Millets, Clean India and Catch the Rain were discussed. The Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar, Varnali Deka attended the programme as chief guest along with other local dignitaries. The programme was inaugurated by Varnali Deka by lighting a lamp and offering flowers in front of Swami Vivekananda’s picture and explained the purpose of the programme.

Kokrajhar District Youth Office of the NYK Himanshu Kumar explained about programmes and activities of NYKS. In the programme, Assistant Professor of Fakiragram College Hasmat Ali delivered his speech on Y20, while Mizing Narzary gave information to the youths on child marriage. Kokrajhar District Youth Officer informed the youths about their contribution in nation building and also suggested to store the heir's water.

The DC suggested to promote sports and physical activities to the youths to stay fit. A cultural programme was also organized in the programme in which the youths actively participated. The first, second and third place winners were honored with prizes. Sports materials were also distributed to 40 youth clubs in the programme. More than 200 youths participated in the programme.
