GOALPARA: The Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) of Goalpara district on Thursday organized a programme to exclusively felicitate those volunteers of NYKS who played a pivotal role during the pandemic to make people aware about COVID-19.
Organized at Simlabari of West Goalpara district, the COVID warriors were especially feted for their role in maintaining social distancing in the selected customer service points designated by the district administration. During the pandemic, some of the NYKS volunteers had pioneered in telecalling the senior citizens of the district under the scheme Surakshit Dada Dadi Nana Nani (SDDNN) being implemented by the Piramal Foundation.
Sayed Ali, State director of NYKS, attended the programme and encouraged the volunteers through his keynote address. Somnath Paul, district coordinator, gave the vote of thanks and congratulated the volunteers for their exceptional works. Among others, Kamaluddin Barbhuyan, accounts officer, local panchayat members were also present.
